Attendance Referrals
A student who is missing school is often telling you something before anything else shows up. The attendance referral module adds truancy and attendance referrals to the student-support process you already run in bhworks, so an absence becomes a referral, a referral becomes a plan, and the plan gets followed to an outcome. It is a natural early tier of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports.
From referral to outcome
One referral, tracked end to end. Every step lives on the student’s record.
- Make the referral. Staff enter a referral the way they already do, then choose where it goes and why. Attendance referrals for younger students cover kindergarten through grade 5; truancy referrals cover grades 6 through 12.
- Work the referral tasks. Customizable task lists auto-populate on the student’s profile, a brief attendance-barrier screening and social-determinants questionnaire, an attendance plan, and any forms your school already uses, which bhworks can build for electronic completion.
- Build an attendance plan. The team around the student, together with the family, documents actionable goals to get the student back to school.
- Track it through every stage. From intake to outcome, each step is documented and tracked through individual tasks.
- Record the outcome. Mark whether the student started services, and close the loop: case closed, monitored by the attendance officer, petitioned to or dismissed by the court, pending, or the outcome everyone is working toward, the student returned and re-engaged in school.
