Steven Beales
Chief Software Architect
Mr. Beales has more than 15 years commercial experience creating enterprise software applications. Since joining mdlogix in 2001, he has provided the technology leadership, vision and strategy that has enabled our success in helping clinical research customers be more productive.
Mr Beales uses his knowledge, experience and understanding to help -
- Develop our strategic technology plan by identifying, tracking, and experimenting with new technologies to ensure customers have the most suitable technology for their needs.
- Direct research and development, advanced technology, health informatics and architecture standards.
- Guide the work of our computer science PhDs, architects and engineers to ensure a continuous flow of customer-driven innovation.
Mr. Beales is an expert in health informatics standards and leads our efforts to ensure CRMS evolves in synergy with caBIG, CDISC and HL7.
Mr. Beales is a prolific, hands-on software engineer and architect who has himself made many thousand code contributions to CRMS. He mentors the next generation of mdlogix engineers while being mentored in turn by his colleagues.
He is a co-founder along with Michael Lang of the Baltimore Ruby on Rails group.
Originally from the UK, Mr. Beales is a Statistics graduate from the London School of Economics and a Civil Service Fast Streamer. He was mentored in Programming Language Principles by Peter Landin and in Logic Programming by Terrance Swift, mdlogix’s co-founder. His most notable achievement before joining mdlogix was the development of the Acolaid suite of products. Over 400 enterprise Acolaid systems are in use by councils throughout the UK.
